The Internet Asks: “What is the penalty for blowing up the moon?”
Source: Yahoo Answers
Science’s Answer: Please don’t blow up the moon. Keep in mind that the moon is held in place by the earth’s gravity, so some of the pieces of the moon (those that are accelerated towards the earth’s surface after you blow it up) will shower down on all of us. If the human race survives, I think it’s fair to say you will be in a lot of trouble.
The Internet Asks: “How many hours difference is it between Canada and America? Is it morning their yet?”
Source: Yahoo Answers
Science’s Answer: Wow. The vast majority of Canadians live in the same four time zones as the continental United States (Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific). In addition, Canada adds the Atlantic time zone (for most of the Labrador coast) and the NewFoundland timezone (for Newfoundland), which is actually only 30 minutes ahead of the Atlantic time zone. Yes – it’s morning there (not their, that’s the possessive), and they are making pancakes with real Maple syrup.
The Internet Asks: “Technically speaking, are we in our fathers before we’re in our mothers?”
Source: Yahoo Answers
Science’s Answer: This is actually an interesting question. Technically, your exact genetic makeup did not exist until the moment your mother’s egg was fertilized inside of her. However, 50% of your genetic makeup had been there inside your mom for some time – she was born with the egg that produced you. Your lazy father, on the other hand, produced the other 50% of your genetic makeup (the sperm that would go on to fertilize your mother’s egg) less than 3 months before conception. So, no, we are not in our fathers before we are in out mothers – it’s the other way around.
The Internet Asks: Is it possible to build muscle by eating insects?
Source: Quora.com
Science’s Answer: Eating protein doesn’t build muscle. Exercise will build muscle so long as you eat enough protein, and unless you are trying to gain a lot of muscle or you have significant dietary limitations, a “normal” diet is probably just fine for this. With that said, insects are actually a relatively good source of protein. The word relatively is in italics here because unlike other sources of protein (meat, eggs, dairy), insects are kind of small. You would have to eat more than 400 crickets to get as much protein as hamburger. Also, hamburgers taste much better than crickets. (Unless you have the proper seasonings – Editor)
